MAIN SUN 2009/2010 COLLECTION

It is impossible to describe the new Roberto Cavalli Eyewear P/E 2010 collection with a single adjective. Any attempt to reduce it to a single inspiration would be limiting. This collection is a rush toward new stylistic concepts that, though they preserve the key features of the Maison, are presented in simple forms and sizes, alternating between small, sublime details and surprising plays of colour. The collection is expansive with every model responding in a different way to the desires of Roberto Cavalli customers.

The 19 styles of the collection are exclusively for her and created partially in warm acetate tones and partially in polished metals that accentuate their elegance.

Large frames with front pieces in various shapes: from perfectly round to oval to delicate squares.

The line is defined by Roberto Cavalli’s classic iconic elements such as animal print and the use of the serpent as a decorative feature, but introduces new stylistic ideas including chain link sidepieces in acetate and injected models.

Even the logo has a new look, displayed as a rhinestone encrusted RC monogram or in an enlarged version with colourful glossed letters.

RC508S, 01F: an oval front piece and domed acetate surfaces imbue this model with 1950’s glamour; it is decorated in animal print and its sidepieces are framed with subtle golden edges.
RC517S, 08B: this model is created from an appealing blend of injected and metal frames. The chain link sidepieces, which immediately recall the Maison’s world of accessories, are enhanced by alternating black and zebra print hues, which also tint the rings.
RC521S, 50F: the serpent returns as the protagonist of this model: subtle, elegant and embellished with the faintest etchings recalling the scales of a reptile; it blends a vaguely “cat eye” frame with brown flecked sidepieces.
RC522, 59Z: this is the largest model of the entire collection, but it is still lightweight with a front piece in opalescent acetate and three small holes along the sidepieces. The extremely elegant chromatic effect of the front piece blends from violet to yellow amber. The lateral RC monograms are positioned over small squares of polished violet.
RC527, 28F: innovation, elegance and clear references to the world of design distinguish these large yet extremely sophisticated glasses, whose lenses are supported with double metal sidepieces. The open-cut shape of the lenses and spaces in the metal lattices of the sidepieces result in an even lighter frame. The end pieces are decorated in a glittery Zebra motif.
